At 18 weeks

Samuel is 18 weeks today. It feels like he should be older. It feels like he has been here forever.

He is the happiest, sweetest, funniest little boy. He has a wicked laugh already. He isn't really a baby anymore. He weighs 8.7kg. He is the same size now that William was at eight months. He is a real chatter box. William was a quiet serious sort of baby. Just always observing. Samuel is completely different, which is nice. One other thing that is different. This morning I found two teeth. That's right 2 teeth. Down the bottom. At eighteen weeks. Not a baby anymore.

Finally and maybe

Finally here is a picture of James on his quilt.

It was emailed to me in a way I couldn't save it to my photos and as I only know basic computer skills, I could only cut and paste and save and so it is tiny. But, it gives you the idea!
Speaking of ideas, I'm trying to work out what fabric to use for a quilt for Samuel. I have some of Laurie Wisbrun's new Pooches and Pickups on it's way.
But I also splurged the other day and ordered some of Saffron Craig's new Beetle Bugs line, which I love.

But then I also have this which I think is pretty cute.

And then there is this...

Which I used to make this...

for the DUDQS2. I have totally fallen in love with the colour combo and was already in love with the design (coz I've seen a few around).
Maybe one of each?

Craft and Quilt fair part 2

So, my day at the Craft and Quilt fair went off without a hitch. I managed to pick up a couple of things that will be useful.
Some John Deere Flannel for William to have yet another pair of pjs. And I found myself some lovely Moda Bliss Flannel. Is it by Bonnie and Camille? Not sure. But I got a fat quarter set of it. It wasn't cheap but it is blissfully soft. A baby quilt or two perhaps?
I think the thing I loved most of the day was checking out the WAQA community quilts.
I haven't paid much attention in the past. This time I stopped for a good look. I didn't know that EVERY person who needs the Royal Flying Doctor Service, big or small, is given a quilt when they are on the plane. They also donate quilts to King Edward memorial hospital and the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. When I got home I decided to take out a membership so I can get involved. I'm also hoping to see about what I can make for the local hospital here. They have the little kiosk that sells it's stuff to help raise money for new things. They might like some little baby quilts or something too.
Might be time to get involved in a few community projects I think.

Craft and Quilt fair

Tomorrow I'm off to Perth for my annual 'Bonding with Sister-In-Law' day. Yep, we're off to the Craft and Quilt fair.
This will be my third year going and I'm hoping this year will be better than the last one. I was a little disappointed last year as I had hoped to come away with some real baragins, but alas, I didn't find them. I'm sure they were there. I just didn't see them.
I'll be setting off fairly early with Samuel as Perth is a two and a half hour drive away. Ben is in charge of William tomorrow, and today actually as they went to Perth today to go see one of our racehorses running. Hope she wins.
Anyway, back to tomorrow. I wonder what bargins are waiting for me to find them tomorrow?

finished and sent, a photo by monkeysinmypocket on Flickr.

I think it is safe to put this up now, I would guess that it arrived today.
I have seen larger versions of this diamond pattern and I wanted to give it a go. My partner said she loved Oh Fransson's work so I'm pretty sure she has something similar on her blog.
It was quite hard to get all the triangles seams to match exactly, I measured and remeasured, cut and sewed and unpicked and resewed.
If you squint when you look at it, you can't tell that it is a bit wonky!!
I definately want to make bigger version and I love the colours.
I hope she likes it.

Invasion!

This is what happens every now and then when you live surrounded by a dairy farm!

An invasion of cows in my front yard. Luckily they didn't eat the roses!

Mothers Day

A belated Happy Mothers Day to all the mums out there. I hope you had a wonderful day.
I was spoilt with gifts, lunch and William repeatedly wishing me a Happy Muvers Day all day.
This is the most recent photo of my little clan. It was taken a while ago now, but it is a favourite. William was asked to smile and that is his classic smile pose!

Happy Mothers Day!

Patrick and James

Remember the quilts I was making for the twins? Patrick and James. Well, I did actually finish them when I was on holiday in Victoria. My camera stayed in WA and dad's had a flat battery so no photos of the finished quilts were taken. Until now.
Well actually on one photo of one quilt with two boys.

I have no idea which boy is which, but for twins born 6weeks prem, they are looking pretty good!
I think the quilt looks good too. I hand quilted straight lines in the white sashing, but you can't see it in the photo. I've been told that there will be more photos of both the quilts and the twins soon.
