Sneak at Peak

I'm working in this at the moment. I am loving the newly released Peak Hour from Kellie Wulfsohn.

I just adore bright colours for boys. Both of mine are car crazy (though what little boy isn't?!) and William has already put in a request for some pyjamas too.
This quilt is cot size and I am also working on a single bed size with the same design. Can't wait to finish them.

Trying to keep up

I've been a bit slack on the blogging front lately. Since I got back from my holiday, I've had a lot of trouble catching up on all the blog reading I missed while I was away! Everyday there are heaps more posts to read! Not only that but I have severely caught the 'Crazy Sewing' germ, so I just can't stop sewing either. My house looks a mess, there's washing everywhere (clean, just needs folding) and the gardens are seriously neglected.

While I was away I finished hand quilting this little pinwheel pretty for my niece. I love how it turned out.

I used Sarah Janes Children at Play, and backed it with this pretty Robert Kaufman floral print.
 (this is my fave block)

Before I left I started a little experiment. I tried a Swoon Block in Bliss Flannel, with Kona Cotton sashing.

It is backed with super soft flannel again and after it went through the washer and drier, it came out so warm and adorable. I love it. This one I donated to a charity auction to raise money for an organisation called Heartfelt. They take special memory photos in hospitals for parents who have lost a baby or has a seriously ill baby.
I hope it raises lots of money! If you like, you can bid on it here.

And now I've just got to get back to my next project - hint - I'm in a bit of a 'Rush'...

Horsey Quilts are Finished

I have finally stitched the last stitch in the last Horsey Quilt today! They are all off to their new home for three young girls to love forever.
I actually started this one all the way back here. I decided it needed to be bigger. Unfortunately in my excitement I packed it into the post box with the others and forgot to do a final measurement.

I've used a variety of fabrics including Heather Ross, Heather Bailey, Michael Miller as well as a couple of others and bound it with some HopeValley. It's very bright isn't it! It felt great all washed and dried in the dryer.

This one is number 2 horse quilt. I finished this one last week, just hadn't gotten around to blogging it. I used this Pony Club print that I got off Etsy (last year, not sure who, where or what anymore) and aqua solid from Spotlight.

I backed it with this sweet pink tossed horse flannel. Got it off Etsy ages ago.
And here they all are together. All different, all special and all gone to their new girls.
Hope they love them as much as I do!

I'm itching to make more Horsey Quilts now!

Baby Swoon

Unfortunately these photos are extremely poor quality, but at least you get the idea!
I needed a quilt. Fast. For a friend who had a wee baby girl four weeks ago. I invited them over for dinner and had nothing to give her. I had to think quick. A baby Swoon!

Once the cutting is done, I think this block comes together very quickly, and thanks to its generous size (is it 24inches?), you can get away with making just one. Add some thick sashing and there you have it. A baby Swoon!. I backed this one with some sweet flannel in a pink and purple stripey weave pattern. I just quilted it around the actual patterned fabric added some Modern Whimsy for the binding and it was done!

I even had time to wash it and chuck it in the clothes drier before they came over! It was perfect for her as we had pizza outside from the pizza oven and she'd forgotten a blanket. Lucky I gave her the perfect gift! Baby was as warm as toast!
