Just had to show these

I just moved Samuel into the Portacot. He's been sleeping in the bassinet attachment on the pram, but he's too big for that now. Mind you, he takes up almost three quarters of the portacot too!

I love that he wakes up happy!

He is such a cheerful, peaceful soul.

I love him to bits!

And yet more....

Every time I make something, I check with my trusty quality control officer if he approves. Most often I am given the answer "Oh! I like it! Is it for me mum?" Sadly for him it normally isn't.
But this time it was! More new pyjamas to add to his growing collection.

He does have a few pairs now, but we love pyjamas here, which I'm sure you know by now, and the others are getting a bit too smallish, kind of, a little bit, not really. BUT they will soon. And these will last a while coz they are BIG!

And what about this? Don't you just love kids in cool shorts with their gumboots on?!

I do!

Yummy Mummy Hospital Lounge Pants!

More pyjamas this week. Only they are different! These ones are Yummy Mummy Hospital Lounge Pants!
These are my favourite so far!

What's the difference you might ask?

Well, nothing, except these are going to a lovely mummy who is just about to have her second baby, and she wants them for in the hospital!
I really need to get a model for photos! The washing line just isn't doing it for me anymore!
And here is something else I've been working on. The twins quilts.
This is Patricks. It's all ready to put together.

James' still needs some work!

My inspiration for these two little quilts came from the lovely Evelyn from Stitch by Stitch. From this quilt and these, combined! A great idea. Thanks Evelyn!

In my previous life

On Thursday I got myself new runners...for walking or at least that's what I told Ben. I used to be a mad keen runner in my previous life...the one without kids! I'd love to start again but Ben thinks it might be slightly unwise only 8 weeks after a caesarean.

Yesterday I got dressed at 6am after feeding Samuel and went for a walk. This morning I did the same....except I added in a little something. I ran this morning. Well not really a run, a slow jog I should call it! Not very far I must add, only about 300m and it hurt almost every part of my body. I am extremely out of running condition. I think I will add a little jog into my daily walk every couple of days and get back into running. Real running.
And then after Easter I will get back on my horse so I can do more of this...

From an even older previous life...

Busy Busy Busy

This past week has been chockers full of stuff going on.
Firstly, William got sick....again. And he kept getting sicker. After two doctors visits and a hospital visit he was finally put on industrial strength antibiotics and within 24hrs had started to pick up. I actually think that whatever nasty bug he has (still not 100% and still waiting for test results) must have been brewing for a couple of months as when I thought about it he hadn't been himself for a long time. Thankfully he is well enough to have started playing outside again as I was about to have a nervous breakdown from having to have Thomas the Tank Engine going for 5 straight days!

My sister and her family arrived on Sunday for a weeks holiday. The house if full with four adults and 4 kids (well, 3 plus a baby). It has been nice having them but I think I will be sighing with relief when they go home again on Sunday. It's pretty full on here and I like my quiet life! But William has been loving having his big cousin Blakie to play with non stop and will miss him when they go I am sure.

They all went to the Busselton Jetty this morning for a ride on the train and a visit to the Underwater Observitory. They loved it.
Here's William on the train on the way out.

And here he is under the water looking out the window!

Samuel turned eight weeks old today. We celebrated that with yet another trip to the doctors. I feel like I live there at the moment. He was meant to have a visit with the Child Health Nurse but she had to change our appointment, and during the week I had found what I thought was a little hernia next to his belly button. But, it was red, so she told me to take him to see the doctor straight away. Turns out it is an infected cyst. More antibiotics.

I must admit about Samuel, that I was slightly taken aback during the week. I picked him up to put him in the car and felt that Mother/Baby bond all of a sudden. I then realised that it hadn't been there since he was born. Acutally I was shocked that I hadn't even noticed it's absence. I've been doing all the mother things for him but had been doing it without that bond. He's smiling and giving me those gorgeous gummy baby smiles and laughs now.

I've managed to fit in a little bit of sewing time - a hat each for the cousins and another 'big' pair of pjs.
AND! A very exciting thing - I got a new logo for Monkeysinmypocket.

The lovely Kate from Kate Hartman Graphic Design made it for me. I must say that she was fantastic to work with and after filling in her design brief, she came up with exactly what I was after first go. I highly recommend her if you are looking for a Graphic Designer!

Hmmm, let me see. Anything else? Nope. That's it for now.
Oops, except for I got my partner for the Down Under Doll Quilt Swap. Now I'm nervous! I don't know where to start!! I better start invesigating!

My first Swap!

I've joined a swap! My first one! I'm so excited. I've never done a swap before and I think I will love this. It's the Down Under Doll Quilt Swap I found them on Flickr.
I've signed up for round two and it starts soon. I have been looking around other swap groups to see what others get up to. I'm telling you I can't believe the talent out there. I hope I can come up with something even half as fabulous as some of those amazing mini quilts.
It's open to anyone who lives in Australia or New Zealand, so if you're one of those people and want to join the fun, then I think you better hurry as sign up finishes on Sunday the 13th.

In six weeks

It has been six weeks(and 1 day) since Samuel was born. I'm sort of unsure of how it feels to be here already. On the one hand it feels like it has gone really fast, but on the other it feels like it has been taking forever! Weird I know!

Here's a photo of the little fella yesterday.

In six weeks I have learned alot about Samuel already. I've learned that he is a hungry boy, he loves to snuggle into my neck, he likes to flirt with the door frame behind me when I sit in the rocking chair in my bedroom. He likes to listen to his big brother 'read' him stories, he likes to swing on the swing seat outside in the evening. He loves his bath, he doesn't like me eating pancakes on Sunday mornings! And he doesn't like to sleep much in the morning between 7am and midday.
He's pretty cute though isn't he?

I've been pretty busy lately. I finally finished this little quilt that I want to give to Quilts for Queensland .
I had a charm pack of what I think is some Michael Miller prints, and thought I had better use them! I am hopeless with remembering to make a note of the fabric lines I use so please excuse me if I am wrong. The back is a colourful dot print that I love and another that I can't remember! I just thought it would be a nice little baby boy's tummy time mat.

It is the first quilt I made with my new Janome. I had a few teething issues with it. Like when I was quilting it I ended up with a little bit of gathering on some of the lines where two meet. Maybe I need to use more pins when basting or use spray? Not sure, but when I get a chance I will use my lesson at the Janome shop to figure that out!
I've also been making pyjamas. I love pyjamas, on me and on kids! I made these for myself before I went into hospital
I posted them on my facebook page and got 17 orders for some for kids and some for mums!
I've made these so far

They just need elastic. I'm just waiting for more fabric for the mums ones to arrive.

Hopefully this weekend I can get started on a couple of little baby boy quilts for an old friends son and his wife. They had identical twin boys about eight weeks ago, abit prem with a few hiccups but doing great now. Hopefully I will have some pics of them next week... if I get to them!

Not much fun

The two boys have both had a snotty nose this week. It's not too bad with William as he's older, but with Samuel, only 5 weeks old....NOT FUN.

Poor little guy, up every hour to feed, doesn't want to lie down as the snot runs down the back of his throat, you know all the dreadfulness that goes with sick bubs.

The good news is I think it is on the improve! He had a big sleep yesterday (which meant I could get some sewing and yoghurt making done) and a HUGE sleep last night.

It's amazing what a good nights sleep does for you.
