Celebrate the BOY!

As you may or may not know, I am a mum of two adorable little boys. I also love to sew. I love to sew for my boys. Let's face it, there isn't an awful lot of sewing stuff around for boys. It makes me unexcited.
But then the other day I got EXCITED! I found this blog - Made by Rae. And the day that I found there was this post.
Celebrate the boy! To keep up to date with what's happening, click on the BOY link.
I'm even more excited!

GG's quilt

Just quickly, before the end of the day, the quilt I made this week for my mother in law's 60th birthday.

Just a lap quilt. She loved it so much she decided she had better buy a new couch to match it!

Note to self... don't bind quilts when seriously sleep deprived!

I got one! I got one!

YIPPEE!! look what I got for Valentines Day!

Ben decided that seeing as our horses sold so well at the sales that he would stop on the way home and pick me up a new sewing machine! Isn't that amazing!
The second I saw the new Janome Horizon at the shop back in November last year I just knew we were destined to be together one day!
Of course, I think Ben was more excited about actually giving it to me, coz as soon as he got home from Perth he asked me if I wanted my Valentines Day gift now or on Monday. I was happy to wait...but he wasn't! He kept asking and asking! So, I said OK give it to me now.
I haven't had a play with it yet, but my mum has! She got her Janome sewing machine 30years ago. I knew it was a long time ago but didnt think it was that long ago! Isn't that amazing? She said she paid $1100 back then. Probably the same as paying $10000 for one now!
I hope my new Janome Horizon lasts 30 years! I better look after it!
Oh and I finished a quilt!

Our other babies

Today is a big and exciting day for us here. The first two foals we have bred are up at the Perth Magic Millions Yearling sales preparing to be sold.

We have this lovely Viscount colt

Isn't he stunning? Here is a video of him
He is being sold on Friday afternoon, and we have a lovely filly by a stallion called Fath. Unfortunately I can't find the photos of her, but you can check out this link if you want to have a look! She is being sold tonight.

Unfortunately we weren't able to prepare them ourselves this year so we sent them to Geisel Park Stud, and we think they have done a really good job.

Wish us luck, we are hoping they sell really well.

Swimming Lessons

William started swimming lessons last week. We decided we would wait until now to start swimming lessons instead of doing them when he was a baby, as we live on the farm and have a couple of dams and creeks, we wanted him to have some fear of water for a while.

With each head bob he went further under and grew more confident.

Dad said he was a bit too tired today to pull himself out by himself.

I'm so proud of him, he's doing so well!

My mum's coming today!

Yippee! My mum is coming over to WA today! She lives in Victoria, where I used to live too until 4 and a half years ago. She's coming over to meet her newest grandson, and to spend two weeks playing with William.... according to William!! Apparently she will be playing in the 'fish room' (that's the toy room that has a marine fish tank in it, we call it the fish room), jumping on the 'tampaween', digging in the sandpit, making icecweem, taking me to the park, and so the list goes on. What a busy Nanny!

Luckily she drinks LOTS of coffee!!

Unfortunately though there doesn't look like there will be much driving anywhere this week or weekend as my darling husband, just this morning, put a large stick through the engine of my Prado while rounding up the escaped cows (again) that were enjoying the green grass around the dam at the stables. I'm still smiling though, can't you see my gritted teeth?!
Oh we do have a motorbike by the way, but it has been in Perth since September getting fixed. Perhaps we should have just bought a new one?

For the mother in law

It's my mother in law's birthday on Valentine's Day. Oh, wait. Which mother in law? I have 2. A step mother in law and a real mother in law. It is the REAL mother in law's bithday on Valentine's Day.
She will be 60. She asked to NOT have a big party but to have a quiet family picnic. That should be fine, as long as it isn't too hot! Any way, I thought I would make her a quilt. Not a big one, just a lap size one. She would definately use it so it would be worth while. And dare I say it, it is one of my "to do list" things this year - to be nicer to her! It's awful I know but ever since she 'over stayed' her hospital visit time when William was born, I lost a lot of time for her. So I made up my mind to try and have more time for her, especially now that we have two of her grand children here!
Anyway, this is the fabric I have chosen for her.

It is a mixture of Denyse Schmidt Hope Valley and a couple of fat quarters I got as a bonus from an internet fabric order.

I just have to decide how to put it together. Something simple that I can do in 14 days!! Remember though I have just has a baby so time is limited!
Wish me luck!
